Music Videos - Genres

Pop
Pop music is a music genre that developed from the mid-1950s as a softer alternative to rock 'n' roll and later to rock music. It has a focus on commercial recording, often orientated towards a youth market, usually through the medium of relatively short and simple love songs. While these basic elements of the genre have remained fairly constant, pop music has absorbed influences from most other forms of popular music
, particularly borrowing from the development of rock music, and utilizing key technological innovations to produce new variations on existing themes.

I think, Pop music is associated with the younger generation, because it's usually a up-beat happy type of genre, so the songs involved with pop and the videos, will be made to appeal to it's audience which are of the youth.

Rock
The rock genre is one of many sub-genres, it's often in rock that the foreground sound is usually a guitar and/or drums, usually the background sound is made up of drums, bass guitars and keyboards

'In the late 1960s and early 1970s, rock music developed different sub genres. When it was blended with folk music it created folk rock, with blues to create blues-rock and with jazz, to create jazz-rock fusion. In the 1970s, rock incorporated influences from soul, funk, and Latin music. Also in the 1970s, rock developed a number of sub genres, such as soft rock, glam rock, heavy metal, hard rock, progressive rock, and punk rock. Rock sub genres that emerged in the 1980s included new wave, hardcore punk and alternative rock. In the 1990s, rock sub genres included grunge, Brit pop, indie rock, and nu metal.' -

Punk Rock
Punk rock is a
rock music genre that developed between 1974 and 1976 in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. Rooted in garage rock and other forms of what is now known as protopunk music, punk rock bands eschewed the perceived excesses of mainstream 1970s rock. They created fast, hard-edged music, typically with short songs, stripped-down instrumentation, and often political, anti-establishment lyrics. Punk embraces a DIY (do it yourself) ethic, with many bands self-producing their recordings and distributing them through informal channels.

Punk rock started in the 70's because of teenage rebellions wanting to change the law, therefore punk music was created, so the people who listen to it now are usually rebellious and want change, still to this day.
